Assessment Form Three, or were introduced by the abbreviation PT3, is a summative assessment to evaluate student's academic achievement at lower secondary level. PT3 is an assessment used to replace the Lower Secondary Assessment has been carried out since 1993. These assessments cover the scope of the syllabus of Form 1 to Form 3 by goals, objectives and content of the subject. However, Assessment Form Three was published in a somewhat hastily, that in the last few months before the assessment is carried out for the first time in 2014 from July to October in the same year. Form Three students would be tested via Pentaksiran Tingkatan 3 (PT3 or Form 3 Assessment) which replaces the Penilaian Menengah Rendah.
PT3 would be used as the basis to determine the entry of students into Form 4 in fully residential schools, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama, Mara Junior Science Colleges (MRSM), including Sekolah Menengah Teknik (SMT), and vocational colleges. Besides PT3, entry into these schools will also be based on the psychometric test to ensure that the selection and emplacement of students suited their capability and interest.
Advantages of PT3 :
- Bahasa Melayu And English Subjects Would Be Implemented Using Written Test And Oral Test Assessment
- There Is No Centralised Examination For Form Three Students As In Previous Years
- Science, Maths, Islamic Education, Living Skills, And Other Vernacular Language Subjects Will Use Written Test Assessment Instruments
- History And Geography Subjects Will Be Assessed Using A Combination Of Written Assignments, Practical Tests, Projects, Field Or Case Studies
- Schools Will Also Administer And Assess Students Based On The Scoring Regulation Guide Provided By The Examination Board
